Ten Sanzuwu birds lived on the divine tree Fusang by the East Sea. They were the sons of the Eastern Emperor Jun. These birds took turns soaring into the sky each day, and the light they radiated became the sun that people saw. Therefore, the sun is also called Sanzuwu. These mythical creatures are considered symbols of ancient Chinese culture.
