Huangdi ruled the universe from the center, with Fuxi, Yan Emperor, Shaohao, and Zhuanxu managing the east, south, west, and north. Shaohao's mother, Huang'e, was a weaver in the palace of the sky who spun and wove until late at night. The brocade she wove was the colorful clouds in the sky. One day, Huang'e sailed up the Milky Way to the source of the Milky Way, the Qiong Sang tree by the Western Sea. There, she met the son of Huangdi's brother, the White Emperor of the West, Jin Xing, who was also known as the Morning Star. They fell in love and made a life-long promise to each other.
